The briefing covered key details, including the race route and extensive medical facilities for the event scheduled on Sunday, 12th October.

The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2025 has reached a historic high, with over 40,500 runners registering for the event. This remarkable response reflects India’s growing passion for running and underscores the Capital City’s continued status as a celebrated sporting hub. The prestigious VDHM will be flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday, 12th October 2025.

Runners are Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon’s biggest stakeholders, and Procam continues to work to make the race day memorable for all participants.

Free Delhi Metro Service for All Participants

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has extended its support to the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon to offer free metro travel on Race Day for all registered runners.

Metro services will start at 3:15 a.m. on lines 1- Red Line, 2 – Yellow Line,3/4 – Blue Line and 6 – Violet Line on Sunday, 12th October 2025.

The Police Cup features three-member teams competing in the Half Marathon:

Pacers

A pacer is an experienced runner who sets a steady, consistent speed to help others finish within a target time. The group running with a pacer is called a ‘Bus’, and the pacer’s goal is to cross the finish line just under the promised time.

Twenty-four pacers will guide participants to the finish line. The Half Marathon will feature 12 pacers who are corporate leaders, while the Open 10K will feature an all-women pacer squad

Run Clubs

For the landmark 20th edition of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2025, 17 Run Clubs and one NGO will drive the course by managing 22 support stations and cheering zones. From Bisleri and FAST&UP to Snickers, Orange & Salt, Water Spraying, and Cool Zones, each station will play a vital role in keeping runners hydrated and motivated. Additionally, a dedicated Cheering Zone will be set up to further energize participants along the route

Eco-stride: Zero to Landfill and 100% Waste-Managed Race

The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon is committed to setting benchmarks in sustainability and environmental stewardship. Supported by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the event ensures efficient waste management both along the route and at the venue, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. More than 100 NDMC sanitation workers will oversee waste collection and segregation on race day.

The race is working closely with Hasiru Dala Innovations, a social enterprise, and the Chintan Environment Research and Action Group. Together, they are supervising eco-friendly practices and ensuring efficient waste management across all touch points of the event.

Key Sustainability Measures

Minimize the usage of paper: All entry forms and e-handbooks are made available online

Plastic usage reduction

Bibs are distributed without plastic covers

Paper bags are used for event kitting

Post-event refreshments are handed out in reusable cloth bags

Runners are encouraged to bring their own refillable bottles

Flex Upcycling: Nearly 200,000 sq. feet of branding material will be upcycled into shelters and floor mats for the homeless

Recycle plastic & other materials

Residual PET bottles are collected, cleaned, crushed, and recycled at certified centres

Packaging materials such as cardboard, paper, tin, and wood are recycled into equivalent products, reducing the use of virgin material

Carbon reduction

Promoters have encouraged participants to use public transport on race day, ensuring free Metro services from 3:00 am for all participants

Electric autos will operate within the JLN Stadium premises for crew mobility and emergency purposes

Dedicated bicycle stands will be placed near Gate 13, encouraging participants to cycle to the venue

Segregation at source: Large Waste Pods/Kiosks with segregated bins (DRY, TETRA PAK, PET, and WET) will be deployed at the venue on race day

Bio-Waste Management

Wet food waste will be composted at an organic composting facility managed by Chintan

Sewage waste will be treated and recycled at an authorized sewage treatment plant

Water Management: Leftover water from bottles will be collected, measured, and repurposed for watering nearby trees

Driven by Purpose

A used-shoe collection drive will be held at the Expo, and surplus food from race day will be distributed to underprivileged communities, both initiatives carried out in partnership with the Dream Foundation

“We will be having 450 medical personnel on ground, including doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and physiotherapists. We have 12 ambulances, mobile medics on motorcycles, 10 medical aid stations, and more than 50 medical spotters in the last one kilometre stretch. Every single person on ground is trained in CPR to ensure we can take care of any emergency right away,” said Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, Medical Director, Metro Hospitals and Heart Institutes.

“The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon can proudly say that we are 100% waste-free and zero to landfill. We have 200 people with 40 dedicated vehicles looking after pre, intra, and post-sanitation activities. Each gram of waste is segregated. We were carbon footprint negative last year, and we aim to do that again this year,” said Dr. Ankita Rai , Medical Officer, NDMC.
